Roam safely and with the knowledge of your current location!
The Roam app is not just a way for businesses to promote what they offer and for customers to discover new places – it can help keep people safe, too.
Ever since its launch, the Roam app has been designed to offer a great experience to those exploring places in groups. Many venues that have claimed their Roam listing offer discounts or other incentives when users of the app bring along a group of friends.
Meanwhile, Roam users can not only create and share itineraries with their travel companions, but there’s also a built-in safeguarding feature that can kick in when needed.
Users simply create a “safe group” within Roam, so that the app can then keep a virtual eye on how the trip out is going. It looks out for any behavioural anomalies, and can then send out safety alerts to the rest of the group if someone wanders off or gets separated.
Promoting group safety
Sadly, accidents can happen while out and about – whether that’s having a night out on the town, enjoying a family holiday, or having a day out sightseeing – and Roam is proud to work with other nationwide organisations that share our message to “Roam safely with knowledge”.
Roam has built relationships with both the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and drowning prevention charity the RLSS, and in October 2019 held a 15-mile charity netwalk to raise money for YMCA Teesdale’s youth education work around river safety.
