Explore Aberaeron
Known for
The Georgian harbour town with colour-washed houses, the famous honey ice cream from the Hive on the Quay, Cardigan Bay dolphins, and a perfectly preserved Regency town plan unique in Wales
A little history
Aberaeron was purpose-built in the early 19th century by the Reverend Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne, who inherited the estate and planned the harbour and grid of Georgian townhouses from scratch — one of Wales's few planned towns.
The Hive on the Quay for honey ice cream and mead is the real reason people make the detour. Walk the harbour at dusk when the painted houses reflect in the water.
