Explore Blandford Forum
Known for
The finest Georgian town in Dorset (rebuilt after a fire in 1731), the River Stour, the Dorset Regimental Museum, Hall and Woodhouse brewery (Badger Beer), and a Dorset market town of exceptional architectural unity
A little history
A catastrophic fire in 1731 destroyed most of Blandford Forum. Local architects John and William Bastard rebuilt the entire town centre in a remarkably unified Georgian style — creating one of England's finest examples of planned Georgian townscape. Hall and Woodhouse, brewers of Badger Beer, have been here since 1777.
The Georgian town centre is genuinely beautiful — the Market Place and Church are outstanding. The Hall and Woodhouse brewery for the Badger Beer heritage. The Stour Valley walk. The Wednesday and Saturday markets.
