Known for
The 1960s new town now transformed with The Lexicon shopping centre, Lily Hill Park, South Hill Park arts centre, the Look Out Discovery Centre, and a Berkshire town that's successfully reinvented itself
A little history
Bracknell was designated a New Town in 1949 to house London overspill. The town's 1960s concrete town centre became notorious as one of England's most depressing. The Lexicon — opened in 2017 — completely transformed the town centre with a new retail and leisure quarter.
South Hill Park arts centre is exceptional — one of Berkshire's finest arts venues in a Georgian mansion. The Look Out Discovery Centre in the forest for families. Lily Hill Park for walking.
