A little history
Brentwood grew as a coaching stop on the road from London to Colchester. The Cathedral of St Mary and St Helen, elevated to cathedral status in 1917, is a fine Gothic Revival building. The town became internationally known through The Only Way Is Essex reality TV series.
Weald Country Park is excellent for walking — a beautiful deer park and lake. The High Street has good independent shops and restaurants. The Cathedral for the surprisingly fine interior.
