A little history
Clacton grew as a Victorian seaside resort with the railway. The Clacton Spear — the oldest wooden hunting spear ever found, at 400,000 years old — was discovered nearby, giving the Clactonian culture its name. The airshow, held annually since 1981, is one of England's largest free airshows.
