A little history
Crediton is the birthplace of St Boniface — the Anglo-Saxon missionary who Christianised Germany and was Archbishop of Mainz, one of the most influential figures in European Christian history. The town was the seat of the Bishop of Devon before the see moved to Exeter in 1050. The Collegiate Church is one of Devon's finest.
The Collegiate Church is magnificent and free — the medieval stonework and the St Boniface connection are extraordinary. The Tuesday market for local Mid Devon produce. The Creedy Valley walking. The town for genuine Devon market town shopping.
