A little history
Enfield Chase was a royal hunting ground — the town grew at its edge. Forty Hall, built in 1629 for Sir Nicholas Rainton, is one of the finest Jacobean mansions in north London. The Lee Valley Regional Park runs along the borough's eastern edge, providing extraordinary green space.
Forty Hall is free and beautiful — the formal gardens and the house interior are excellent. The Lee Valley Regional Park for cycling, walking and watersports. Forty Hill village for a charming historic enclave. The town market.
