Explore Felixstowe
Known for
The UK's busiest container port (handling 40% of Britain's container trade), the Victorian seafront, Landguard Fort, and a Suffolk resort that balances industry and pleasure in extraordinary proximity
A little history
Felixstowe Port became the UK's leading container port in the 1960s when other ports were disrupted by industrial action. The Victorian resort survives alongside the vast container terminal — creating one of England's most unusual townscapes. Landguard Fort has guarded the harbour since 1540.
Landguard Fort and Landguard Point for watching the giant container ships pass just offshore — one of England's most dramatic industrial spectacles. The pier for the Victorian experience. The beach huts are excellent.
