Explore Harlow
Known for
Henry Moore's sculptures (Harlow has one of England's finest public sculpture collections, commissioned by the New Town), the Gibberd Gallery, the Parndon Wood, and a post-war New Town that took public art seriously
A little history
Harlow was designated a New Town in 1947 and its planners took public art uniquely seriously — commissioning sculptures from Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and others for public spaces. The result is one of England's finest collections of modern public sculpture.
The Moore sculpture trail is free and rewarding — the town centre and Mark Hall cycle park have significant works. The Gibberd Garden is extraordinary. The market on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
