A little history
Adam Smith — who published The Wealth of Nations in 1776, founding modern economics — was born in Kirkcaldy in 1723. The town has the longest high street in Scotland (the Lang Toun). The Museum and Art Gallery holds one of Scotland's finest art collections, including outstanding works by Scottish Colourists. Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister, grew up here.
