Known for
The Battle of Bosworth Field 1485 (where Richard III died and the Tudor dynasty began), the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, and a small Leicestershire market town of world-historical significance
A little history
The Battle of Bosworth Field, fought on 22 August 1485, ended the Wars of the Roses and established the Tudor dynasty. Richard III — 'A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse' — was killed here. Richard's skeleton was found under a Leicester car park in 2012. Market Bosworth itself is a charming small town with an excellent park.
The Battlefield Heritage Centre is excellent — the battle is brought to life brilliantly. Bosworth Country Park for walking. The town market. Market Bosworth Country Park for picnics.
