Explore Newport-on-Tay
Known for
The Tay Bridge views (the world's longest rail bridge), the Tay estuary, and a small Fife village with extraordinary bridge views
A little history
Newport-on-Tay sits on the south bank of the Tay opposite Dundee. The Tay Rail Bridge — at 2 miles, the longest rail bridge in the world when built — dominates the view. The original bridge collapsed in the Great Tay Bridge Disaster of 1879 in a storm, taking a passenger train with it.
The Tay Bridge views from Newport are extraordinary. The riverside walk. The village has good local character. Dundee is easily accessible via the bridge.
