A little history
Aneurin Bevan — born in Tredegar in 1897 — created the National Health Service as Minister of Health in 1948. The NHS was partly inspired by the Tredegar Workmen's Medical Aid Society, which provided healthcare to local miners long before the NHS. The Tredegar Iron Works was one of Wales's most important.
