A little history
Twickenham has hosted England rugby union since 1909. The stadium — capacity 82,000 — is the world's largest dedicated rugby union ground. Marble Hill House is a beautiful 18th century Palladian villa. Alexander Pope had his villa here and planted one of the most famous gardens in England.
Twickenham Stadium tours are excellent. Marble Hill for the Palladian house and riverside park. The Thames towpath to Richmond. The Eel Pie Island for the legendary music venue heritage.
