Welwyn Garden City was the second Garden City founded by Ebenezer Howard in 1920, following Letchworth. The town was designed with tree-lined boulevards, green spaces and planned industry. The Shredded Wheat factory, built in 1925, is one of England's finest early industrial art deco buildings.
