Sutton Hoo — 2 miles from Woodbridge — was the site of the extraordinary 1939 discovery of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon ship burial containing the most spectacular treasure in British archaeology, including the iconic Sutton Hoo helmet. The Woodbridge Tide Mill (1170, rebuilt 1793) is the finest working tide mill in Britain. The Deben Estuary is beautiful.
