A little history
Wymondham Abbey — with its two remarkable towers at each end of the nave — is one of Norfolk's finest medieval buildings. Robert Kett led the great popular uprising of 1549 — Kett's Rebellion — from a camp outside Wymondham, marching 16,000 men to Norwich in protest at enclosures. The Market Cross (1617) is one of the finest in England.
The Abbey is magnificent and free. The Market Cross for the beautiful timber-framing. The Kett's Rebellion heritage trail. The heritage railway to Dereham.
